1 Thessalonians 2:8
We loved you so much that we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well because you had become so dear to us.
Yesterday at the center before i left I was standing amongst the girls as they were doing there hair dressing class. I was saying goodbye and I reached out my hand and either rubbed or touched one fo the girls on her shoulder. She started talking to Allen one of the staff members and i could tell by a few words she was talking about me. I thought she was commenting on why would i want to know about products and why we use this for that. Then Allen said she loves it when you touch her it makes her feel like your her mother and you love her. Well I told her i absolutely do love her an gave her a huge big hug and told her anytime she needs one of those or if any of the girls need those i am available. I truly love them and pray for them like they are my own daughters. Then today i needed to stay home, get caught up on emails and blogging and rest and quite time. (bible study as well)….. So i picked up my bible study, that seems to be 1 or 2 days a week not daily. When i do pick it up it blows me away. The scripture we worked on today was 1 Thessalonians 2:8 and I just sat here in God’s presence and realized how incredible it was today to pick up that bible study and how much i love those girls and said your timing GOD i am learning..God is really showing me it’s in his timing not mine. and here is why i say this. I have delayed more and more on doing this bible study and each time it is perfectly fit into my daily walk. Example of the story above. And God’s timing is something that has really been a lesson learned.
I came ready to hit the ground running and that has not happened at all. Things are taking a bit longer. The sermon at church this week also hit point w/ me, it was about God’s timing and that he’s really not silent. It’s like a play when intermission happens we are asked to take a break so they can set up an scene behind the curtain. When we come back after refreshments or potty breaks we are ready for the 2nd half. So really he is not silent he is working behind the scenes and sometimes that means slowing down, eating a snack, and prepare for the whats to come. I know his blessings will be big because he is giving me this time to rest in him, and really trust in him. Pastor also pointed out how we like our lives instant we have google, instant coffee, and our computers can get things pulled up and done right now. And that’s just not how it works all the time. If you’ve ever been in Africa you’ll understand things don’t run like that, and I the most impatient perfectionist instant coffee girl am learning that God is not silent he is preparing me and allowing me to settle down and acclimate and find my rhythm here. I love this time in my life of learning about God’ s timing and seeing how much i have struggled and learned in leaps and bounds to really trust his timing…..I will wait upon the Lord.
On a fun note, i have been driving in this crazy capital city….. and it is an adventure all itself and i typically pray very hard before i leave my house. I was downtown and parking and there are always a ton of people waiting to work and wanting to watch your car and help you park. So i had like 9 guys trying to help me parallel park (remember we drive on the opposite side of the road and sit on the opposite side of the car-have you even tried to parallel park from the passenger side)….. i did it but had to tune them out as they all were putting there helpful input into my maneuvering a land rover into the spot a mini cooper needed to fit. I could tune them out until i heard this guy say he Americanies turn turn turn. I have never heard that it was so cute and the way he said it w/ his Ugandan accent just busted me into tears as i continued to try to park. I got out and just said thank you guys your a blessing. Americinese. ( like chinese)
So Christmas is coming and a friend of mine is explaining how traditions nd what people do he tells me about these pampers that you give out. and i am like diapers? i was so confused and then he is trying to explain how you wrap them up and they are like boxes of food and goodies. I was laughing so hard and come to find out they are gift baskets, but they call them happers. It was so much fun.
