Easter weekend
WOW what a week and weekend so much to update you about. I have had and incredible week both personally and with ministry… 1st lets talk about ministry because the girls at the center and I had a blast. OR maybe I just had much more fun then they did….. no not really. The smiles on their faces and the work they did was incredible. We started our bead project this week. And they all did such a lovely job, and picked up very quickly. It’s not a hard process, but a time consuming progress. I think the 2 best parts for me was when they got to choose there colors and then I would comment on how those 2 colors were going to be brilliant together, then as they were making them I went around and looked at each girls work and complimented them on how well they were doing and how beautiful again those colors were. It brought a smile to there faces, you could see how they just lite up. I think they just needed to be complimented and confirmed. We all do don’t we, so GO AHEAD look in the mirror and tell you’re self how incredible u are.
The girls seemed very encouraged by doing this project we hope that it gives them opportunity to do a little something on the side.
Then we had an amazing night as we did a fundraiser: Billy Ocean came to Uganda. The house was almost packed. It was a great night and we were able to bring awareness to human trafficking. We are not yet sure the total we raised. What a blessing to have the opportunity and to have a fun night of great music. I was not sure about Billy Ocean as I was not a huge fan, but I have to say he has an incredible voice and his mainstream songs don’t bring justice to his vocal ability. He sang 2 songs last night both in which I really love. Bob Marley- No Women No Cry and Sam Cooks' "its been a long time coming. LOVED IT.
Then Friday I headed away for the holiday weekend. Went to Fort Portal and it is just what I needed, to get away and fall back in love with Uganda. Staying in the city just drains you out and it is so nice to get away and rejuvenate again. Fort P is so beautiful it has the Ruwenzori Mountain and the rich’s soil in Uganda. Because of Volcanic activity a billion years ago, there are crater lakes in the area as well as lot of history and beautiful people. I mean all of Uganda has beautiful people but in this area the people are a lot taller. So we did a bit of walking the 1st day and visited caves, the caves were not like the ones I have visited before they were open on the side of a cliff/hill. But they still had stalactites and stalagmites. It was really cool. Attached was a neat waterfall that you can walk under, then the next day we went another beautiful crater lakes and this one is pictured on the 20,000 shilling note. And then we HIKED to another waterfall, which was incredible. I wished I had brought my suit because you can get into the water. The HIKE up was a killer, but I did it, and it made me realize I better get training for May when my mom comes and we go hiking for the Gorillas.
But well worth the effort to go see these falls. Then the hotel we stayed at was ran by people from India and I have to say I ate so much good Indian food I am telling you God provided rain and a cool atmosphere and Indian food It was beautiful. It was nice to spend Easter away and w/ a really close friend. I will definitely be going back to Fort Portal.
